The Lytle Junior High Robotics Team took home two trophies from Saturday's FIRST Tech Challenge Somerset League Championship - one for reaching the league finals and another for innovative robot design.
The Techno Pirates fought hard through five matches, ending the meet in third place and qualifying for the finals. The finals became a Lytle partnership with the High School team joining the Junior High in an alliance against two other teams. The finals were a best two out of three and the two Lytle teams fought hard, but lost in the third match.
The matches are just one component of the championship, however. The teams must present their robot and their engineering journal to a team of judges, then answer questions about their team, robot design and the work they do promoting robotics. It was during this portion of the competition that the Techno Pirates received their highest award - the PTC Design award for innovative robotic design.
The Techno Pirates and coaches Reagon Clamon, Joe Corona and Jeffrey Salinas want to thank everyone who has helped us throughout our season.
